Backpacking on the AT

It started raining on the Wednesday before the trip and it did not stop raining until we were getting in our cars on Sunday morning. It was pouring rain on Friday when we set up camp in Pin Grove Furnace. On the plus side o one set up their tent where it would get flooded because the site was already flooded.

We packed up and set out on the trail in the rain on Saturday morning. We hiked all day in the rain and after a while we were used to it.

When we arrived at our camp site for Saturday night we were greeted by a roaring fire and hot water for tea and drinks complements of our Scoutmaster who was unable to make the full hike and arrived in camp early.

My earlier statement about it raining until Sunday was not technically accurate. The rain changed to sleet and snow overnight when the temperatures dropped below freezing.
