Camping Check List

This is a new form to our site. It is a general checklist for camping trips. It contains most of the items each Scout and adult should carry for all Troop camping trips. Use it as the basis for packing and add items specific for each trip depending on the activity and weather.

Patrol Forms and Information

		Patrol Equipment Checklist	Use this checklist to ensure that your Patrol has all your Patrol equipment in good condition before and after camping trips.
		Patrol Roster	The Patrol Roster is used to list telephone numbers and other information about each member in your Patrol. You can edit the Word version to add your Patrol members electronically.
		Patrol Call Log	The Patrol Call Log has a place for you to add each Patrol member and to record information you need to tell each member. It also has a place to take notes on who is coming to the meeting and the camping trip.
		Patrol PLC Notes	The Patrol  PLC Notes page is designed for you to take notes during the PLC. The Senior Patrol Leader can use this form to fill out information before the PLC and give each Patrol Leader a partially filled out set of notes.
		Patrol Weekend Duty Roster	You record on the Weekend Duty Roster the jobs assigned to each Scout for a camping trip. The Roster must be posted in your Patrol site.
		Patrol Menu Planner	The Menu Planner is used to plan your menu for a camping trip. It must be filled out, turned in to the appropriate adult, and approved in advance of each camping trip.
		Patrol GrubMaster List	The GrubMaster prepares this shopping list based on the Patrol Menu and the number of Scouts going camping.
		Patrol Leader's Notebook	This is the complete Patrol Leader's Notebook in Acrobat format. It includes the table of contents and all the supporting leadership information. You will also want to download the patrol and planning forms in Word format so you add your own patrol information.

Troop Forms and Information

		Competition Scoresheet	This scoresheet is used to track Patrol competition throughout the month. Patrols should download the forms so they know how they are judged. The Excel version contains formulas to calculate scores and the Acrobat version contains blank areas more suitable from writing in results by hand. Updated April 2004.
		The Campfire Program Planner	This form is filled in by the Master of Ceremonies for a campfire. It should be prepared ahead of time and distributed to each Patrol Leader and other participants in the campfire.
		Troop 497 Leadership Guide	The Leadership Guide defines the major requirements and responsibilities of the Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders, Senior Patrol; Members, Patrol Leaders, and Assistant Patrol Leaders.
		Troop Meeting Planning Form	This planning form should be prepared for each Troop Meeting and presented to the PLC prior to the meeting. Revised plans should be posted on the bulletin board prior to the start of the meeting. Submit completed forms to the webmaster for posting on the Troop website prior to the meeting.
		Camping Trip Planning Form	Use this form to plan and schedule camping trip activities. The completed from should presented to the PLC prior to the camping trip. Revised plans should be posted on the bulletin board during the camping trip. Submit completed forms to the webmaster for posting on the Troop website prior to the camping trip.
		P.A.S.S. General Instructions and Sign Off Sheet	This document contains the general isntructions for P.A.S.S., the Proficiency Award for Scoutcraft Skills. It also contains the more detailed sign-off sheet used to track a Scouts progress towards P.A.S.S.
		P.A.S.S. Skills Instruction Manual	This Acrobat document is a skills instruction manual for some of the items tested in PASS. It does not cover the entire text. However, if provides invaluable information for Scouts attempting to pass the tests that it does cover. Must reading for all PASS candidates. (2MB)

Administrative Forms

		United Way Contributions	The Parents Club of Troop 497 directed donation number for the United Way is #7537. Use this number is you want your donation to go the Parents Club of Troop 497.
		Family Account Withdrawal	This form must be filled out and given to the Troop treasurer to request funds be withdrawn from the family account for valid expenditures.
		Check Request	This form must be filled out and given to the Troop treasurer along with receipts to be reimbursed for legitimate, approved, expenditures. This form is available at Troop meetings.
		Troop Activity Permission Slip	Troop 497 Parental Consent and Medical Release must be completed for all Scouts before they can participate in the outdoor program. It should be submitted to Mr. Reidler.
		Medical Form for Scouts and Adults	Starting 1 January 2010 there is a new consolidated medical form for all Scouts and Scouters. It must be completed annually. An annual physical is required for everyone participating in events lasting 72 continuous hours, e.g., summer camp. You can read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) on the BSA web site. Please submit your completed medical forms to Mr. Reidler.
		Troop 497 Medication Form	This form must be completed by a parent or guardian for each prescription and non prescription medicine that a Scout is required to take on a regular basis. The form should be put in the same plastic bag with the medication.
		Climbing Release	This form must be read, signed, and returned to Mr. Charpentier prior to any Scout or Adult participating in Troop sponsored rock climbing or rappelling. This form must be completed annually.
		Local Tour Permit Application	This form is completed by the adult arranging a trip and must be submitted to the Scout Office prior to a trip.
		Driver List	This form can be used to track the drivers for trips. It contains a place for the names of the drivers and the amount of passengers going and returning with each driver.

Eagle Scout Information

		Troop 497 Eagle Scout Check List	This document provides guidance to obtain information and to complete the basic steps to advance from Life to Eagle. There are items in the checklist that are specific to our Troop. (18 December 2011)
		Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook	The pdf  version can be printed, then completed by hand. The Word (RTF) version may be completed on your computer (look at the pdf version as a reference). You can check this Scout web page for a later edition or alternately, you may obtain a printed copy from your Baltimore Area Council service center - ask for item No. 18-927D.
		Eagle Scout Project Description Form	This is a Summary Description of your Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project. This form is one of three documents to be submitted to the Baltimore Area Council after your Eagle Board of Review. The other two forms are: Verified Eagle Application, and Advancement Report. The Word version is editable and is the preferred form to use of the two.

		Troop 497 Handbook	Must reading for every Scout and Adult. This handbook explains the workings of Troop 497. You will learn about Troop meetings, camping trips, advancement and many more activities relating to our Troop.
		Troop 497 Adult Leaders Handbook	Must reading for every adult working with the Scouts. This handbook explains the dos and don'ts for adults. It covers most of the items you will need to know to join us on an outdoor activity from camping to a day trip.
